New Marvel Movie Announced: Guardians of the Galaxy

Do you have a Marvel nut in your house?  Even though I have two girls, we are BIG Marvel fans!  My oldest daughter is OBSESSED with Loki from the Thor franchise, and my youngest loves Captain America.  So I am super excited to see a new Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, coming out!  I know this is going to be one that my girls are going to want to see as soon as it is released in theaters!

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which first appeared in comic books in Marvel Super-Heroes, Issue #18 (Jan. 1969), stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael and Benicio Del Toro as The Collector.

James Gunn is the director of the film with Kevin Feige, p.g.a., producing. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee serve as executive producers.

I’m super excited to see Bradley Cooper  and Zoe Saldana in this movie – love both of them!  I’m also super excited to see Chris Pratt in this role – I can’t think of him without thinking of his super-cute (and then super-jerky) character in Bride Wars – but he looks pretty good!

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is written by James Gunn and Nicole Perlman and releases in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2014.

New Maleficent Clip! #Disney #Maleficent

maleficent

Are you counting the days until the new Maleficent movie is released?  We are!  Only 10 more days….we are soooooo looking forward to seeing this movie.

“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

Disney has released a new Maleficent clip to whet your appetite even more (as if we aren’t already jumping up and down about this movie already!)…take a look.

Sqeeeeee! I get so excited after I see a new clip – Angelina Jolie is to die for. I love live-action Disney movies in general and Sleeping Beauty has always been one of my favorite original Disney movies. The last time I was in Disney we stood in line foreverrrrr at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to meet Maleficent…so excited for this movie!  See you in the theater on May 30!

New Disney Live Action Cinderella Trailer! #Cinderella

Cinderella trailer

It’s coming!!!  That’s right fellow Disney fanatics –  a new LIVE ACTION Cinderella movie is headed for theatres in March 2015, and I’m so happy to share with you the brand new trailer.  Cinderella has always been one of my favorites – because of course, a great pair of shoes makes all the difference! Grab the kids and settle in, because it’s a good one!

The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

I’m SUPER, SUPER pumped to see Helena Bonham-Carter making an appearance in Cinderella as the fairy godmother – LOVE HER, and I adored her in Alice in Wonderland.  Cate Blanchett should also be AMAZING as the wicked stepmother.

Cinderella” will be released through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 13, 2015.  Happy birthday to me – this is one day after my birthday and I will DEFINITELY be in a theater to check this one out!

Happy Mother’s Day from Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY

ALEXANDER-Bad-Day-Mothers-Day-ECard

Happy Mother’s Day to all of my fellow Moms!  In honor of all the moms out there, Disney has created the adorable Mother’s Day ecard….perfect for all those not-so-perfect Mom moments, inspired by their new movie, Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good, Very Bad Day.  So grab it and send it on to your Mom.

One of my favorite books is Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, which has been a childhood staple since its publication in 1972.  I have read it many time, both with my children and in my classroom when I was a teacher.  It is an ALA Notable Children’s book, among many other awards, and was feature on one of my favorite shows, Reading Rainbow.

Now, Disney has worked its magic to create what is sure to be an absolutely hilarious family favorite.  Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one. “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.

I absolutely ADORE Jennifer Garner, so I can’t wait to see this movie with my girls!  Check out the trailer below:

It looks sooo good!  I can’t wait to see how Steve Carrell manages to get himself in a position where he needs to be chasing a kangaroo!  So I’ll see you at the theatre on October 10th, and here’s hoping that your Mother’s Day, is anything but Terrible, Horrible, No Good, and Very Bad!
